This is another variation of rasam with spicy, tangy flavours. The main ingredients are pepper and garlic.This rasam soothes sore throat and gives great relief. This rasam can be served as a clear soup or with hot rice.Here I present simple garlic pepper rasam. Njoy Cooking, Serving n Savoring!
Ingredients: Tomato: 1 no. Garlic: 5 flakes Pepper corns: 7/8nos. Cumin seeds: 1 tsp Salt: as required Tempering: Oil: 1 tbsp Mustard seeds: 1 tsp Cumin seeds: 1 tsp Hing: A pinch Red chilli: 1 no. Method of preparation: 1. Crush cumin, black pepper and garlic flakes in a mortar pestle. 2. In a kadai pour 1 tbsp of oil. Heat kadai and put 1 tsp of mustard seeds when it pops out add cumin seeds, red chilli ,a pinch of hing into it. 3. Now add crushed cumin garlic pepper and saute them for a minute. 4. After that add finely chopped tomatoes , finely chopped coriander leaves and curry leaves. Fry the tomatoes till oil separates.Usually I add half of coriander leaves during boiling and remaining half for garnishing. 5. Pour 3/4 cups of water and also extracted tamarind pulp. Add required amount of salt and bring it to boil. 6. Boil the rasam thoroughly for approximately 10-15 minutes. 7. Now the piping hot rasam is ready and can be served with rice. |
