Lunch menu #30

Today Varalakshmi vratham
Performed Pooja and offered naivedhyam to Goddess Varalakshmi. Every state, region has different ways of performing Pooja. Few decorate ammavaru and drape Saree along with different ornaments. We believe Goddess resides in the coconut. so, we apply turmeric to the coconut and draw eyes, nose, mouth etc. Coconut is placed in Ashtalakshmi kalasam and decorated with ornaments. Pooja is performed as per the procedure mentioned in Varalakshmi vrata Kalpam. Nine varieties of prasadams are offered to Goddess and consumed later.

Thora Pooja:

Thoram/sacred thread is made of 9 threads and turmeric is applied to it. 9 knots are made in which each knot is tied with a flower. After performing Pooja, thoram is tied to our right hands(Only for ladies and daughters in the home ).

Also I wanted to mention on this auspicious day. …in Telugu families we have a special tradition that, whenever a girl child is born on Friday she is considered as lucky and incarnation of Goddess Lakshmi. So, during her wedding,  the bridegroom before tying mangala sutram, has to offer minimum 1 gm gold welcoming the Goddess from her maternal home. My daughter was born on Friday 😊🙏🏻!!

May Goddess Varalakshmi shower her choicest blessings on all of us 🙏🏻🙏🏻!!
