Dondakaya karam petti kura 

This is Andhra delicacy which is prepared during special occasions or just like that to treat our loved ones. Dondakaya Jura is a great accompaniment to hot steamed rice along with other delicacies. Ivy gourd is chopped into thin slices. Tempering ingredients are dry roasted and made into course powder. Ivy gourd pieces are steamed or sautéed in little oil and the ground powder is added. Ingredients:

Ivy gourd: 500 gms 

Salt: As required 

Turmeric: Generous pinch

Oil: 2/3 tbsp

Curry leaves: A sprig

Asafoetida: A pinch 

To grind into powder:

Bengal gram: Half cup

Urad dal : Half cup

Coriander seeds: Half cup 

Red chillies: Few

Method of preparation:

🍃. Dry roast bengal gram, black gram, coriander seeds in a kadai. Once they are roasted add red chilies and roast for one minute.

🍃. Transfer the roasted ingredients into mixer grinder and grind to a powder.

🍃. Take 500 gms. Of ivy gourd rinse well with water and chop them into thin slices.

🍃. Cook them adding little water until they become soft. Also add required amount of salt and turmeric. 

🍃. Heat kadai and pour oil. Add asafoetida and boiled ivy gourd pieces. 

🍃. Sauté them for few minutes and add ground curry powder. Mix thoroughly and sauté for two more minutes.

🍃. Add curry leaves and mix thoroughly.

🍃. Transfer the ivy gourd curry into a serving bowl and serve with hot steamed rice.
